Audio interactions are useful for personal info gathering/consumption, but I see it more as another input medium rather than the next evolution. I spend half my day in a shell prompt. Right tool for the job.

If you work alone in a nice quiet office, sure, audio can someday be the primary input for human to computer interactions, but a group of information workers yakking at their computers all day…sounds like the typical call center.
