In Design or as with any field where you have to work together with other human beings, it is always better if you could talk to people in their own language. With developers its important to get to know the technical aspects, with product managers the business impact and with C-Suite what impact it will have on their bottomline.

Depending on the organization you could be working together with PM’s or Devs most of the time so its important to get to know their language to reduce confusion and friction. Also Devs are particularly good at sniffing out fakers … so if you start throwing terms in their face without knowing what you are talking about. You will lose all respect from them and then best of luck to you to get you designs out ”as is”.
