I DID IT AGAIN [II]
I woke up with a sense of fear and I’m about to go to bed with a worsened sense of awareness.
Awareness of all that could go wrong if I don’t handle this ‘habit’.
All that could fail if I don’t throw this burden away.
As I said, I’ve lost opportunities and time because of it.
It has cost me friendship and robbed me of joy at some stages in my life.

I blame it upon my forgetfulness, or my busy schedule.
I find ways to explain my way out of it most times.
But the truth is, I can never run away from it.
I must address it.
___
One of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century, Pablo Picasso rightly said;
Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone.
The 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, also reiterated that fact when he said;
You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.
These quotes spell P.R.O.C.R.A.S.T.I.N.A.T.I.O.N.
Procrastination is the habitual or intentional delay of starting or finishing a task despite knowing it might have negative consequences.
Why do I always fall into procrastination?
Like when I failed to keep up with my writing tasks.
Sometimes I fail to keep up with meetings and fail to check up on beloved friends and family.
This draws us farther apart.
Sometimes I fail to intentionally pray and seek for guidance from my Maker for a whole week .
This gives me a sense of unfulfillment and lack of direction.
Sometimes I miss out on an important assignment or study schedule, promising to do it later.
This has cost me improved grades and overall performance.
Sometimes I fail to hit the ‘Submit button’ and end up forgetting to submit an important application.
(Or I fail to fill the form outrightly.)
This has cost me some international and national opportunities, conferences and scholarships.
The list is endless and I know you’ve been listing yours too.
Procrastination is a trait I must learn to keep under check if I want to be more productive and accountable.
Dear Friend,
Do you also find yourself in such a case of procrastination?
If yes, I’m sure you want to be more productive and accountable.
What do you think we could do better to keep ourselves accountable and more disciplined?
If No, I would really like to read your comments on how you’ve mastered self-discipline.
Please feel free to share your views.
And do share this with a friend.
See you in the next post.
Until then, keep living.
