NOUVEAU-EMBER: The Movie

(Behind the Scenes)

Lights!

Camera!!

Action!!!

______

I’ve never been to the making of a movie but I know I’ve heard that line a couple of times in behind-the-scenes documentaries.

It seems to me that it is the permission granted to the actors to create a great movie.

But we're not here to talk about the making of any Nollywood movie.

I’m Nigerian, hence Nollywoood.

Not here to give a review or criticize any movie.

None of that.

I'm just here to ask YOU to give permission to your life to shoot the Best Movie you've ever only dreamt of before now.

The only difference is, YOU are the Director, the Lead Character, the videographer and sometimes the make-up artist.

Now don't get me wrong.

Other people will take part in this movie.

Your family, friends, acquaintances, the store-keeper, the cab driver, even the little preschool kid.

Other people on earth, who you have no control over.

All of them will.

But YOU determine the script!

______

Welcome Dear Friend.

Congratulations on making it to November!

I call it Noveau-ember

(Personally translated as 'New Flame')

Because although it’s the penultimate month of the year, it gives me this heightened sense of the need to rekindle the flame of passion for certain goals I’ve neglected during the year.

You can read more about my perception of November in my last post [https://link.medium.com/vLEFuMAif1 ]

____
Is it a coincidence that as I’m writing this I’m listening to one of my favorite songs, 'Angel By the Wings' by the amazing Sia?

It can only be.

Now, if you haven't listened to that song, you really need to.

The chorus says "You can do anything!"

And the mere repetition of that same phrase dares my subconscious-self to list all the seemingly 'difficult things' and limiting beliefs that have kept me from becoming the ‘Best Version of Myself' (in Oprah’s words).

The next song that comes up is still by Sia, 'Unstoppable'

Please don’t blame me, I’m a fan.

The lyrics are profound

I’m unstoppable,
I’m a Porsche with no brakes
I’m invincible
Yeah, I win every single game
I’m so powerful
I don’t need batteries to play
I’m so confident, yeah, I’m unstoppable today
Unstoppable today, unstoppable today
Unstoppable today, I’m unstoppable today”

Wow!

That chorus can serve as my daily declaration.

But its essential that we carry this ‘Unstoppable mindset' as we take deliberate actions this month.

One of my favorite authors and business coaches, Grant Cardone, is a Big Time Preacher of the Power of Action.

And not just any kind of action, Massive Action!

In his book "Sell or be Sold" (which is my first book in November),

He said;

"You can never take enough action in life; you can only take too little.

Too much action will never get you into trouble.

In fact, taking action is the way to get out of trouble.

The only time action will cause you trouble is when there isn’t any or when there’s not enough of it.

If you want to get anyplace in life, you’ve got to take action.

The amount of success you have is limited by the amount of action you take.

To become president in your field, you will have to be out of balance, totally focused, and dedicated, following up with tremendous amounts of action."

That quite sums this post up.

It’s been said that there are three kinds of action in life:

1. The right action

2. The wrong action

3. No action (which will always result in nothing)

But according to him, there’s a fourth kind of action:

4. Massive action!!!

When it comes to action, I strongly believe that we need to

Go big, Go bold, and Go scared.

Even when you have no clue.

This is one thing that will guarantee results.

So,

A promise I made to myself this month is to take Massive Action in any task I undertake.

In my academics, career, family, relationships with friends, business, learning, etc.

Give it your all or give it nothing Sylvia.

I’m hoping this energy spills into December and the year 2020.

And I'm hoping you'll adopt this mantra with me;

"I'm unstoppable and I can take massive actions to see my aspirations fulfilled"

I’m really positive that we will both make the best of the next 60 days.

Your '2020 self' will thank you for it.

Cheers to Nouveau-Ember!

Till next time.

Keep living friend.
