What did the first bicycle look like?

The first one was produced in 1818. Its predecessors were wooden, while this one had no pedals. The rider used to ride the bicycle by putting his feet on the ground. But soon inventors added pedals, chains, bars, and rubber wheels to make it easier to maneuver.

Hobbyhorse :

The idea of adding pedals to a bicycle first came to the mind of a man named Kirkpatrick McMillan from Scotland. The bicycle he developed was named the Hobby Horse. McMillan placed the paddles below the hander near the first and attached them to the pile of money by means of long rods. These pedals were moved up and down by the feet, which started the cycle.

Velocipede:

Pierre Michaux a resident of
France with the help of his son Ernest, built a bicycle called the Velocipede, which had a larger front wheel than the previous one. It was made of wood with an iron rim attached to it. The pedals of the bicycle were attached to the front wheel.

Safety bicycle :

It was not until about a hundred years ago that safer modern bicycles began to appear. which connected the pedal to the rear wheel. Nowadays, apart from general riding, various types of bicycles are used for hill running competitions and exercise.

German Baron Carl Dan Dries von Saarbrun exhibited the first bicycle in Paris in 1818. The rider of this bicycle used to push the bicycle forward by placing both feet on the ground. A year later, Kirkpatrick McMillan, a blacksmith from Scotland, added pedals to the bicycle, which were attached to the bottom of the handle. Pierre and Ernest made further changes to make this ride more efficient and comfortable. In his bicycle, the pedal was attached to the front. The bicycle built by James Starley of England had a large front wheel and a small rear wheel. It was named Penny-farthing. It was named after England’s smallest and largest loom coin. This cycle was faster than other cycles of that era. In 1889, John Dunlop, a veterinarian living in Belfast, developed a bicycle that used tires and tubes in which the wheels were filled with air. Gearing up with the chain in the back money further increased its speed. These additions made the bicycle a popular ride.
