HOLY CLOGGED AIR DUCT!!!

Take a look at the filth collected in these industrial exhaust ducts. It’s almost unbelievable… but there was room left in the ducts which means it could have gotten WORSE! Hmmm… when’s the last time your ducts were serviced???

The pictures here are from a job that we just started in an industrial plant that produces bearings. The collected residue added 150 pounds of weight to the duct and had to be lowered down with a crane! This type of build severely decreases the effectiveness of the system and costs the company more money in energy bills and damaged motors that have to work too hard. Build up, especially to this degree, also creates a potential fire hazard.

Over time, the dust, lint, fibers and other materials that build up can cause an ignition if exposed to excessive heat. That heat can come from a combination of high external temperatures and heat from motors pushing material through the ducts. Mix that with the friction from moving air (that is also hot) and you have the potential for a fire that will destroy property and possibly lives.

The science works in the same way that a laundry drier air filter can cause a fire if excessive heat sparks the collected fibers. Think…
