The Independent Brewing Company
The Independent Brewing Company is the state’s leading production brewery and located at the top of Bel Air’s Ma and Pa Trail. This brewpub offers twenty-six taps on rotation of artisanal small batch ales and ciders.
Founded in 2015, the brewery features a large taproom and patio, situated in historic downtown Bel Air. The establishment is family-friendly, bicycle friendly and well behaved dogs are welcome.

Their signature beer, Bel Air Sour is a tart and pleasantly tropical sour that is brewed with local honey and rhubarb. It is a refreshing choice to complement a meal and has received a number of awards.
You can find them at the Bel Air Farmers Market, Harford Mall and several festivals throughout the year. The brewery is also one of the top places for live music in Maryland and holds many events in their taproom including Bend and Brew yoga, trivia nights and other activities.

The independent craft brewer mark was developed by the Brewers Association to unify the nation’s beer industry and provide an easy way for consumers to identify independent breweries. Over the past few years, many small and independent breweries have become a driving force in the U.S. beer scene, bringing innovation and excitement to the table and creating jobs and economic growth in their communities.

A Gold Medal at the World Beer Cup
The Independent Brewing Company in Bel Air recently won a gold medal in the German-style Maerzen category at the World Beer Cup. This was the first time the brewery had entered the competition and it was a significant milestone for Independent, according to Harry O’Neill, CTO.
Independent was also the first Maryland brewery to receive a medal at the World Beer Cup, which took place in October. The award helps to validate the brand and gives it recognition on an international scale, Rhudy said.

The independent craft brewer seal was launched on June 27, 2017. It was created to help unify the nation’s beer industry and make it easier for people to identify independent breweries. Since then, over 5,700 breweries have joined the movement and are proud to display this symbol on their beers.
