Unfolding

Poem

As the night stops

And the people no longer have to run to catch the sun

Because the dark morning light is all everyone needs

It reminds them of what is to come

And what yesterday left

I will stand by you at the bus stop

Any morning

Any night

And wait for your life to begin

See your laughter

As the earth flirts dangerously with you

You stand oblivious

While the earth stands at oblivion

The wind pushes back when the bus slides in front of us

I see the door unfolding

I hold you and let go

And you disappear

In a gust of air

I see the sun erupt in orange and yellow across Victoria Harbor

And know that you are home
