Well collected facts, Sidu Ponnappa,

People have lost some basic sense on what engineering actually is,

Just to add,

The words engineer, and “ingenious” both stem from the latin “ingenium”, which meant a talent, natural capacity, or clever invention. The early applications of clever inventions often were military ones, and “ingeniarius” became one of the several words applied to builders of such ingenious military machines. I remember an article which I read in one of the engineering magazines in my college days, where ECPD ( Engineers council for professional development which is a precursor of ABET — Accrediting board for engineering and technology ) defines engineering as.

The profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences gained by study, experience, and practice is applied with judgement to develop ways to utilize economically, the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of mankind. ( I hope I have used exact phrase, not sure about my memory )

The real reason for people hating their jobs, is basically due to lack of understanding of what actually their job is :). People love jobs for their own materialistic desires with out knowing what it is.
