Day 2 — Get a Gang

July 8, 2016

A complete productive day I say. Woke up at a decent time. Exercised. Ate. And started work.

What’s this all about?
I have planned to build an application using Backbone JS and Django. And as you can see, I am journaling each day to share the process as I learn and build, until the application is done.

Get a Gang

As soon as I posted my goals for today in the Facebook group, I started working on them straight away. Oh, I should tell you, that we are a gang of three members, where each of us post every morning what we’d like to accomplish and at night we discuss what we’ve done.

This is a great motivator. People ask you to surround yourself with like minded people.

You are the average of the five people you hangout with.

Even though it isn’t possible for every one to be physically around with everyone we want to be. So we took social network to our advantage.

We use this group to get inspired and inspire each other. Frankly, this drives me to work everyday. We even share all the work that we do and the projects that we do which helps in getting constructive criticism.

This concept will work only if every member is participating. And also only positivity is allowed.

Work

Today, I could finish the work by 4pm. I thought of adding CRUD functionality to the blog posts in the application which I am building. Even though I got a crazy ‘csrf’ error while making the API call with backbone, I could recover it by adding some AJAX code from the Django documentation.

After which I worked on converting audio file to transcribed text. Couldn’t do it. This is hard but I felt excited to work on this. I tried it using Sphinx and Google Speech Recognition API but couldn’t make it work.

I tried at least. I’m not going to leave it though.

The productivity score is 10 on 10 this day. A day to count in for sure.

Have a great day!
