Nothing Phone (1) : Unique and Bold
Well, the tech arena is filled with the buzz around this new phone that will be launched on July 12th. Nothing is a startup company founded by Carl Pei, an Ex-Vice President of OnePlus. The man behind the growth of OnePlus and its evolution of OnePlus smartphones.
Carl Pei was the one who made OnePlus grow and applied some extraordinary marketing techniques to spread the word about their smartphones. He also manufactured some killer “Flagship killer” phones to undercut its competition in price and challenge some top competitors.
Following in his footsteps, he started his own company named ‘Nothing,’ People in the tech biz have been excited about this small startup ever since. Nothing first launched wireless headphones that had a good amount of audience, but it was not something revolutionary and changed the market. But oh boy, it was some bold and unique design that everyone wanted to look at no matter how good or bad the audio quality was.
The marketing on top of the design just grabbed some excellent attention. My favorite is the font that appears on the image displayed above. It had a transparent design choice which I would call bold as some people dislike it, like those who want to see the internals of a product. But that makes it unique to most people who had bought the Nothing ear (1).
Nothing Phone (1) was the most anticipated smartphone since the announcement of this company. The first look at the phone is blowing my mind solely for its design and unique look.
The LED lights on the back of the phone look flashy and weird to look at during sunlight, but it’s the best implementation of LED lights in a smartphone I’ve ever seen. It is helpful for various reasons. We can customize these LED lights and make them useful for multiple purposes using ‘Glyph Interface,’ a set of software that is added to the phone to control it.
The unique part about these LED lights is the battery indicator. Look at the LED lights glowing like a water tank only for half of the pill-shaped cutout. That indicates how much of the battery is charged when plugged in. That is so cool. I would love to keep my phone upside down and glance at the LED light to see my battery progress instead of turning it over. At night, it would look even better if you imagine. Yes, I will give it to you: nothing, good job at the design.
Unique right? This is what makes Smartphones interesting right now. All the other phone manufacturers are at peak designs. To differentiate, something like Nothing phone (1) is interesting to glance at.
I would not like to talk about the leaked specs and the price, but that’s for another day. As of now, I love this phone’s design and am excited to see more. Let me know your thoughts below.
