I still think “Trivandrum” would be a better option than “Ananthapuri.”

Indeed. Trivandrum is already a familiar name as well. Easy to pronounce. But it’s impossible to revert to Trivandrum as it will create a wrong precedence as already renamed big cities can come up with same demand. More and more places are being renamed from British name to Indian name all over India. So, our demands will never be met if we request for Trivandrum, which is still a name given by British, and it doesn’t have a meaning attached to it. Trivandrum is just short form. Such a name will never be accepted by the central government. Anantha Puri or some other Indian name is a more practical solution.
