Liberals Don’t Love Abortion: They Just Love That Conservatives Hate It So Much

Conservatives these days. It’s just too easy.

I truly believe that the Pro-Life side would win if they just stopped shooting themselves in the foot with these pointless graphics. They seemingly try to convince people over and over who are already pro-life. Most who believe that we are created in the image of God are already against abortion. What about those who don’t believe in God? If that’s the only argument, then you’re up a creek.

Now, on to liberals. It’s just as easy.

Saying that men will never get pregnant is not an argument. The fact is that 0% of women will get pregnant without a man.

This is a people problem.

Now, let’s steer clear of the Social Media warriors, memes, and other flaming rhetoric that does no good. Here’s what I have come to realize. People, in general, want the same things. It’s HOW they go about accomplishing these things that cause all the chaos. The vast majority of Americans can agree with these statements:

  • Nobody likes abortion
  • Nobody wants gun violence
  • Nobody wants animals to be abused
  • Everybody wants to help the poor
  • Everyone wants a better life
  • Everyone wants quality education
  • Everyone generally wants to be healthy

Abortion, in particular, spurs some of the most heated arguments out there. Constantly we are exposed to arguments, for and against, that can be considered “logical”. I think we all know what conservatives/Pro-Lifers want. Or rather, don’t want. They are opposed to abortion in almost every situation because, according to them, life begins at conception. They conclude that we don’t have the RIGHT to kill a living human being, inside or outside the womb. It’s easy to see their point of view. Why mess with a life, especially a life so innocent? We could argue the meaning of “alive” when it comes to a fetus, but we won’t.

But what about liberals?

It’s a little more complicated when it comes to the left. Almost all liberals support the woman’s RIGHT to abort her child. It comes down to bodily autonomy, the freedom to do with their own bodies what they want. The problem is, the left gradually flips its position the closer it gets to birth. A recentGallup poll shows that 29% of Americans approve of abortion under any circumstance. But when? We find that “any circumstance” doesn’t necessarily apply to third trimester abortions.

In the first trimester, around 63% of Americans tend to believe abortion should be legal. In the second, just 25%. Only 11% of Americans believe third trimester abortions should be legal. This is very telling. It shows, for one thing, that even liberals have a sense of the development process that takes place within those months.

There are a few parallels that we can draw from this disagreement. The Right just can’t understand anyone who would support abortion. But let’s flip the coin. When it comes to guns, who feels misunderstood? We have had murder after murder committed with guns.

You see? We seem to care about RIGHTS when they’re the ones we want.

I truly believe that in order to come together, we have to seek to understand each other. By looking the other way whenever there’s an argument against our views, we divide America a little bit further.

Let’s not be the generation that destroys America. Let’s be the one that brings it back together.
