Arcona — a new tool for self-realization

--

Over the years, AR developers are facing several challenges and the most important are: to find a high-quality implementation technology and to find users. These two problems are directly connected, actually, the second is mainly a consequence of the first. Potential users don’t look for hard to use, ads-full apps, with badly positioned graphics even on the simplest QR-markers.

At that time, analysts wrote hundreds of articles on “what will be the killer app”. After a decade the answer was found: convenient, useful and with instant markerless tracking + a Big Idea. While developing Arcona, we proceeded from these easy-to-understand, but difficult-to-implement postulates.

Arcona is a platform of augmented reality, a universal information space in which the virtual and real worlds represent a single ecosystem for users with equal rights. Based on the map data, the system automatically generates a digital layer in the real-world cities. In this layer you can build, walk, make business and do everything that is not prohibited by law. Still, it’s a digital service, and some laws apply to it.

The idea of creating Arcona appeared while working on some of Piligrim XXI’s projects, it became their logical continuation. Since 2013, our company has accumulated a good experience of connecting GIS-data with augmented reality and architectural objects. With our next step we wanted to get over the market creating a platform that would be very attractive for other developers to use. Therefore, we offer the following solutions:

Automated augmented reality modeling system

It is responsible for: the generation of a virtual layer — “the Digital Land”, building 3D terrain models based on all available geo-information data, determining likely routes of the user’s movement, creating marker-objects to determine a local position of the user.

The layer of augmented reality will be divided into lots of 100 square meters each. The lot can be purchased for token called arcona, which is also the international domestic currency of the project. It provides decentralized control over content and territories. The total volume of emissions depends on the results of ICO, but will not exceed 135,000,000 tokens.

Database module

Database management system for storing landscape models and providing remote access to them.

On one physical server, a region of the Digital Land with an area of 200 × 200 meters can be generated. Each lot can support a limited number of virtual objects and simultaneously connected visitors. This is called Land Capacity (Capacity).

By assembling several lots, we increase the Capacity to support more objects and connect more users. In Arcona, you can build a pool of lots that don’t share common borders, and transfer the total capacity to one lot, that is, to redistribute it between different lots, depending on the user traffic.

Integrated modeling environment

A toolkit for creating and maintaining content managing applications. This most important module is responsible for UGC, without which our platform cannot exist. Content can be created remotely, from anywhere in the world via the Internet.

Content developers are the demiurges of the new world. They are the ones who feed the attractiveness of Digital Land, and they earn the most. Normally, in similar projects based on UGC, developers create content on their own initiative or on request. In Arcona, the platform itself is an active customer for stimulating the market.

Arcona initiates the placement of its own orders for a wide range of works in the form of an auction. It will also bid for the best solution. The higher the amount, the more developers, artists and other professionals will participate in the work. Similar principles are implemented on such sites as Threadless, 99Designs, TopCoder.

AR Viewer

The augmented reality application AR Viewer for smartphones, tablets and headsets like HoloLens is a frontend for users and anyone who wants to see the world of Arcona. Today we can already foresee that AR as an interface, in the next decade, will replace flat displays, in part smartphones, advertising billboards and so on. Apple, Microsoft, IBM, Google, Tencent, Alibaba and other industry giants are investing billions of dollars to make it possible.

Presently and in the short term, the most massive AR interface is a smartphone. The impact of this personal pocket gadget can only grow, and its potential has a long run. This is easily confirmed by the facts: Apple began serious mastering of the mobile augmented reality on ARKit only a couple of months ago with the iPhone 8/8 + / X, and Google will bring the ARCore from the beta test early next year.

Therefore, ARViewer for smartphones will be the best way to use Arcona from any point of view.

Smart-contract

Blockchain technology is the basis of the system of digital land ownership and turnover of goods and services. It works, thanks to the limited natural limits of the Arcona coverage area. This is approximately 12% of the entire habitable surface of the globe or 18 000 000 000 000 square meters.

Blockchain guarantees Arcona users a safe and direct exchange of services and values. The smart contract protects the copyrights of content developers and software code, implements automatic payment for the use of intellectual property. The rights of digital land owners are also protected by a smart contract.

A large selection of content, the ability to control traffic and protect the rights of users with a smart contract make of Arcona the first such project in the market of augmented reality.

You could hear about conceptually similar products on virtual reality, but they all lock the user into a world of illusions. Arcona will become a new instrument of self-realization in the real world. And while many other technologies are usually associated with anti-utopias, ours becomes a platform that makes people freer and happier.
