The First Week

Being at the 11th Salzburg Academy has been an amazing experience so far! I am one of 83 students who were selected to attend this cultural and educational experience. This is the eleventh year that students, faculty, and interns have descended on the grounds of the Schloss Leopoldskron and Meierhof. The hospitality of the front desk staff and wait staff have been top-notch. The food is delicious and PLENTEOUS!!

We have had several thought-provoking discussions about the different populist ideologies in governments across the globe, various characteristics of populism, and its implications.

One of the most powerful sessions we’ve had so far was the Human Library organized by faculty member, Roman Gerodimos. I was impressed with how transparent the human books were in sharing their personal stories. I think that authenticity is powerful within itself. The books were unique representations of situations that may occur in our lives that can leave an indelible mark.

I appreciate the mix of faculty and the expertise that they bring to the academy.

I’m so grateful to be here.
