Me at Game Networking Jakarta 2017

Let’s be friend :)

Let’s get started.

There’s two way if you want to get into game development world :

  1. work in a Triple-A company
  2. being an indie

We’ve chosen the second way, and we’ll share to you what we learn from the first release of our game:

  1. If you are in the “first game” stage, just make it small and make it fast. our game development phase was too long, but finally we made it into Google Play (more than 8 month for a small game)
  2. It’s very important to choose the right tool at the beginning, We’ve chosen the wrong game engine for our team, but fortunately we’re now using the right one. (this factor is also affect the game development time)
  3. Make a playable prototype first, don’t use too much fancy art here, but make a playable game first, see if it’s fun or not, if it’s not, tinkering around until it feels fun. If it feels ‘fun’, then you can tinkering around the art.
  4. Don’t procrastinate, seriously. work like a rabbit who being chased by a tiger.
  5. Double, maybe even triple your time estimates to get a realistic picture of when you can finish your game.
  6. Do the ‘marketing’ even if your game isn’t finished yet. consider to do marketing: before, at the time when the game release, and after your game released.
  7. Last but not least, fail fast, learn from it, and Success faster!

Cheers! keep making games :)

Hope we can make our next games better!
