Spirits in the Material World (Part 2)
The battle of Issus is one that is highlighted as Alexander the Great’s most distinguishable battles. Also known as the “Alexander Mosaic” it depicts the ruler at the Battle of Issus. Due to the age of the painting, parts of it are unrecognizable leaving Alexander the Great as the only Macedonian able to be seen. The painting shows characteristics that narrate the battle in favor of the Persians; however, since they lose then it could mean that the Macedonian King triumphantly battled them with ease.
