In the previous post, we have learned that a KYC application which does not meet the international standards or is in local language is likely to take a long time until approval or to be rejected. Today, let’s look at a case where KYC is not approved despite the fact that the one might have submitted the right documents.

1. Submit the information page of your Photo ID

(Reason for refusal)
1) When submitted a photo of wrong page (e.g. the cover of passport).
2) When some part of the personal information page is cut off or the picture is shaded so that it is difficult to confirm.

2. Identification information must be recognizable in English

(Reason for refusal)
1) When it is not written in Roman character (e.g. Korean national ID card, Russian internal passport, etc).
- In order to make an exact match with the AML List, you will need to provide your ID in English.

3. Photo ID must contain the applicant’s photo, name, date of birth, nationality, and expiration date

(Reason for refusal)
1) When any of the above five elements are missing.
- In order to make an accurate comparison with the AML List, you must submit an ID that includes all of the above elements.

4. Your Photo ID must not be expired

(Reason for refusal)
1) When submitted an expired identification card.
2) When submitted an identification card that does not contain any information of date of expiry.

5. Your Photo ID should match with the information you have entered in the form

(Reason for refusal)
1) When the English name in the Photo ID and the English name on the form do not match.
2) When the date of birth in the Photo ID and the date of birth on the form do not match.
3) When the country of issuing authority of the Photo ID is different from the nationality of the applicant.
4) When the nationality and IP address are different (in this case, a proof of residence is required).

6. Upload your selfie holding up the same Photo ID described above

(Reason for refusal)
1) When submitted a selfie taken with holding a different Photo ID.
2) When submitted a selfie taken without the submitted Photo ID.
3) When the face in the Photo ID does not match with selfie.
4) When selfie is taken wearing a hat or sunglasses. DO NOT cover your face.
5) When it is not possible to verify whether the photo of the submitted ID card matches with the ID card in the selfie (shaken, low resolution, shaded, light reflection, etc.)

7. Only 21 years-old or older is available

(Reason for refusal)
1) When the applicant is under 21 years old.
2) When the one used his/her parents’ identification card (children must go).
3) When the one manipulated his/her date of birth (wanna be punished?)

8. Photoshop is not accepted

(Reason for refusal)
1) When hid or modified information on Photo ID.
2) When made a modification to the selfie.

9. The submitted photos are not clear and cannot be recognized.

(Reason for refusal)
1) When the resolution of the picture is too low to confirm the information.
2) When the picture is shaken and it is difficult to confirm the information.

By far we have reviewed the most common reasons for KYC rejection. Please take a close look before joining ICO and do not miss a chance.
