INTRODUCTION :

West Pakistan was one of the two exclaves created at the formation of the modern state of Pakistan following the 1947 Partition of India .West Pakistan was the popular and some times official (1955–1970) name of Western wing of Pakistan until 1971, when the Western wing (East Pakistan) became independent as Bangladesh . The province of West Pakistan was created in 14th Oct 1955 by the merger of the provinces, states and tribal areas of Western Wing . The province was composed of twelve divisions and the provincial capital was established at Lahore . The politically dominant Western wing was composed of three Governor’s provinces (NWFP, PUNJAB , SINDH ),One chief Commissioner’s province (BALUCHISTAN ). The Baluchistan States Union , several other princely states , the Federal Capital Territory and tribal areas .

GOVERNOR’S OF WEST PAKISTAN

  • MUSHTAQ AHMAD GURMANI :

Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani (1905–1981) was a Minister without a portfolio . He signed the Karachi Agreement of 1949 that established a ceasefire line between Pakistani and Indian areas of Kashmir , which later became known as line of control . In 1951 he served as the Executive for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas and also stayed as Interior Minister of Pakistan from 1951 till 1954. Between 1955 and 1957 he served as Governor of Punjab . In 1955, the post of Punjab Governor was abolished and gurmani went on to become the first Governor of West Pakistan.

Akhter Husain , (1 March 1902–15 July 1983) was an eminant senior statesman and civil servant of Pakistan . In 1954 he was appointed as Secretary , Ministry of Defence
