Read This When I Forgive You

Silent hallways -filled with church mouses

Bruised knees from fervent prayer

Earth Spirit please bless me

With the divine and holy water

To cleanse all traces of my resentment

Towards myself

I bled and stayed inside for 7 days

Luna appearing on the 28th day

Of each cycle

Then, there it began — the cyclical pattern of

Hamsters running on the wheels

No end nor beginning

The Alpha and the Omega

Push and pull, polar opposites

That couldn’t resist each other

Premonitions of the Madonna

Hail Mary’s held between my fingers

Bellowing for the ancestors to guide me

To my true healing where tulips bloom

And Birds of Paradise fly

Sitting united with my beloved

Never remembering that they have long by

To the other side

Holding the joys of yesterday in my hands

When they were still alive

Find within me the light of my existence

And persuade me daily to find reasons

to continue to exist

And constantly bare this pain

So, let the mirrors reflect my beauty

That I try so hard to find

And believe I don’t deserve
