Did you ever work in the Restaurant business? Most people that order food and come in to pick it up themselves don’t tip… “Restaurant workers lose tips to Third party Delivery Drivers” — Seriously??
Pizza Delivery drivers that actually work for Domino’s, Pizza Hut, etc. — When I did it back in high school we kept all of the tips and they were not shared.
The tipping culture might be broken but that’s because of CHEAP owners not paying their workers (that are traditionally not part of the tipping process — Chefs, back of the house) a decent wage and compensating that by creating that pooling tips garbage.
“Also, can you even leave that kind of off-menu custom order?”
On Postmates you can tip the staff when ordering by using the “Add Special Instructions” on your order but who knows if the staff will ever see it.
By the way — I’ve come across restaurants I’ve ordered carry out / delivery from that add an 18% gratuity charge to the order. You bagged up my food to go and you deserve a 18% tip? Seriously??
