I agree with this article wholeheartedly.
I tried for a year to learn and like WordPress. I ended up troubleshooting and trying to fix themes and plugins, including paid ones. I usually received 3–6 security attempt lockout notifications a week from my security software blocking attempted hacks. It seems like every other week I was receiving upgrade notifications for WordPress or themes or plugins. I also had 3 or 4 urgent upgrade notifications due to extremely potentially damaging security vulnerabilities with plugins. WordPress seems to need a lot of maintenance.
Meanwhile, some WordPress blogs I was subscribed to kept saying how safe and secure WordPress is. I don’t think it is at all.
Clients love it because it is free, supposedly easy to use, has lots of nice looking themes, and “everybody else is using it.” I hate it. I deleted my entire WordPress installation last month and it was a great relief. Now I tell clients I don’t do WordPress work. I plan on evaluating Ghost next as a replacement CMS.
