This Is How You Make It Big
If your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough.
Ellen Johnson Sirleaf
It was the end of July; I was in my second year in college. I had just received the results of my exams. They were bad.
I had taken half of the exams, the easiest ones, in the summer session. I now had two months to prepare for the harder ones and hope to make it through. It looked like an impossible task.
I put my mind to it. I had to pass.
My nemesis was the physics exam. I had struggled to follow the course for the whole year and I was behind by a long shot. So I went back to basics.
I went through the whole course again and rebuilt from the ground up, step by step. I worked hard for the whole summer. I made progress; I started to believe I could make it.
Finally, it was time to take the exams. I felt a lot more confident during the physics exam.
The long wait started. A couple of excruciating weeks. The results came in at last.
I passed. And got my best mark of all exams… in physics.
This experience showed me the impact of placing, and then removing, limitations on myself. At first, I didn’t believe I could do well in physics. Despite my belief, I took action.
Through action, I built confidence. Confidence then allowed me to overcome my limitations: I started believing in myself. And evidence showed that I was right to believe I could make it.
THIS IS HOW YOU CAN GROW
Last week, I signed-up for Adam Braun’s newsletter. As a bonus for signing up, Adam sends you 30 inspirational quotes.
One of them was: If your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough. It hit me in the face.
My dreams and goals were not scaring me. They all required a lot of work to achieve, but they were not scary. I adjusted my goals straight away.
Now they are scary. And scary means exciting. They’re pushing me outside of my comfort zone in a big way. This is the only way for me to grow and overcome my limitations.
WHY YOU NEED TO DREAM BIG
To overcome your limitations, you have to dream big. You need scary dreams to stretch your mind.
If you’re not convinced, read The Magic Of Thinking Big. It covers this one principle at length.
Self-made billionaires live on another planet. Not just financially, but mentally. They have overcome a lot of their limitations on their journey to success. They now see the world in a completely different perspective to you and me.
You might be thinking:
Of course, billionaires live on another planet. Of course, they have a different perspective to life. They have billions!
But here is the reality:
Yes, money helps achieving big projects. But the mindset to carry out big projects is what most counts. Adam Braun started Pencils of Promise with just $25.
LET THE MAGIC HAPPEN
Face your fears and start thinking big.
At first, you’ll resist it. As long as you don’t truly believe you can achieve your dreams, your brain will fight back.
But keep at it. Take action, take a first step. Through your journey, you will find ways to achieve your goals.
You will start believing in you dreams. This is when the magic happens.
As it happened to me 15 years ago.
Dream big. Get excited. Start building your ideal lifestyle and make it big.
