I cannot love this article enough! It’s a hell of a feeling to know that someone finally gets it because, as seen in comments regarding Beyonce’s video and performance in outside sources, there’s many who clearly don’t.

Hearing the message in that song and seeing it in the following performance was a moment of celebration. As someone growing up feeling that I had to assimilate in order to be accepted, it took many years to finally know what it is to love myself and completely own my heritage. It’s a great time to be alive. I’m not willing to have a bunch of uptight conservative haters take that feeling away ever again, so I’m gonna celebrate on the field with bells on.
