In a world full of pessimism and constructive feedback, how is a girl supposed to thrive in a professional environment? Whether she’s controlled by intimidation or limited by the glass ceiling, sadly the modern age is still a man’s world.

It is certainly inspiring to read stories and watch other successful women sack up and grab life by the balls. But to what end did they suffer along the way? Did they also have someone tell them they could never accomplish their dreams? Sure they did! But the stories of hardship are seldom what is in the public eye.
If men are the big CEOs and set the agenda for what the world hears and sees, how is a girl supposed to survive? Whether she innocently bats her eyelashes and accepts pay just barely above minimum wage enough to say it so, or schmoozes her way into favoritism with gifts, sweet talk, compliments, or sexual conduct, she still just the girl who’s trying to get ahead.
She probably never wanted to be a top accountant, scanning spreadsheets for a margin of error, or top programmer, surfing style sheets for that one error that screwed everything up. She wants to make a difference. She wants to be remembered. She wants to make people happy and to be genuinely happy herself. Is that so hard?
Even if a woman is a company leader, wouldn’t she forever be struggling and pressured to fit into a man’s world? Lingerie is feminine, maybe… Oh, wait… Victoria’s Secret. Wings, heels, girly magazines, bum calendars. Well, there goes that idea. How about fashion? Oh, same thing. Babies? Oh, yes. Women are in their element most in a maternal environment. Let’s put them there. We might as well embrace the Radio Gaga instead of going goo goo over lost dreams.
So where does that leave us? Does what women want not matter? Do men even know what women want? Are they informed but in denial?
Maybe we just need to keep dreaming and grow a pair.
