Why are we continuing to invest our tax dollars in new oil sources when all the world leaders at the global warming conference in New York agreed that our planet is indeed teetering on the brink of irreversible climate change?? The question is purely rhetorical. The answer as always is “follow the money”. And although the Native Americans have the most to lose in the short term, chasing after more oil only reveals to the rest of the world’s populations that the US doesn’t believe all the proof that science has provided thus far beyond any reasonable doubt; that we should have been proactive yesterday and the sands in the hourglass of planet earth’s lifespan are nearly gone. Man has not been a good steward of the earth but once we have passed the point of no return, if we haven’t already, the planet will have its revenge because it will be uninhabitable to the species that has tried to destroy it and man will become an endangered species.
