Today’s employee landscape is more generationally diverse than at any time in modern history. Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z are all working, often side by side. These vast gaps in age and experience have today’s leaders supporting teams with nuanced complexity.

Why the andragogy model of learning?

The andragogy model is designed by educators to facilitate adult learning. The model simply shifts the leadership structure from oversight to collaboration. It’s essential to be aware that the workplace is not just a place of work but a place of continuous learning, where new information is forged, and learning is taking place. Team members continuously make new discoveries within their current roles and concurrently learn about their desired future roles. The andragogy model is a framework that allows leaders to support their teams’ learning and development proactively.

In the andragogy model, the role of the leader is not just to impart knowledge, but to create an environment where team members are self-motivated and self-driven to acquire the necessary new skills and information to achieve their self-actualized goals.
