True Story: How I Got Into Domain Business?

How did you get into this business? This is the question I hear from lots of people when they find out that I’m in the domain business, of course, right after I explain what the domain business is.

August 2010. I just got back from the Erasmus Internship program about wind erosion, yes I may come back to this after some time, in Belgium. Well, the internship itself was great but our travel plan for Italy went quite bad. My phone got stolen and I had to buy an extra flight ticket cost me a fortune. So, when I got back to Turkey, my bank account didn’t seem promising for an unemployed person. Plus, I was doing my master’s degree at the same time.

Long story short, I was broke and I needed a job badly. That was the time I heard about the job opening at Nokta Domains for the “Domain Sales Specialist” title. Well, I knew that I could sell since I sold lots of things until that time, not pro level but I knew it. However, domains? Premium domains? Domain Aftermarket? Valuation? I had absolutely NO idea about any of them. Well, I applied for the job. Back to back interviews for a few weeks and in the end, I got accepted. That exact day changed my life forever! It’s been almost 10 years since I got into the business and I appreciated every single day of it.

I’ll share my experience and thoughts about the domains and the market in my future stories.

From wind erosion to domaining, true story.
