My guess down the line, Google buys Jetbrains, converts Android to Kotlin code base, deprecates Java by retooling Android Studio with additional Kotlin-only tools.
What happens next?

While I agree that Google might buy JetBrains, I am 100% sure that they won’t convert Android API’s to Kotlin, it is simply not possible because
1. The current API’s are millions of lines of code and about 10 years old and stable.
2. Millions of apps on Playstore will break.
3. Millions of Android Dev’s will stop writing Android apps (you need to understand that people started writing Android app’s because they already knew Java), they will learn Swift instead and make more money on their time investment.
