Wake Up by Jack Kerouac. This is the life of Lord Buddha through the narrative of a devout Catholic and I’d say a masterpiece. I have read it seven times so far. The first time I read this book when we were going through a devastating earthquake in Christchurch and we had to deal with 10,000+ aftershocks. We did not know at that stage if we were going to make it to the next day. This book was a book on the deeper meanings of life. Yet written in a beautiful fluid style as if you lived in The Buddha’s time.

Read it if you can. One of the classics in my eye
