Modular Electric Vehicles are the key to sustainable transportation in India

Rising global pollution levels have already started being more alarming than ever. According to NASA, Carbon Dioxide levels are at all time high with 402.26 ppm (As of January 2016).

India is the third largest contributor of air pollution with 13 cities making the hit list in the top 20 polluted cities in the world, our national capital leading from the front! The current AQI(Air Quality Index) for the top cities are as follows:

Vehicular emissions are one of the major contributors to air pollution. A report by Siam, OICA depicts that more than 2.54 million passenger cars were sold alone in 2015 showing a steep rise of 7.64% in sales which is the highest in the world. Another cause of the high rise in car sales is the boom of on-demand taxi aggregators in India. More than a million rides are being completed every day. The aggregators are alone adding 2000+ vehicles each day all across the country. With the tremendous increase in gasoline vehicles, air pollution levels are going way beyond National quality standards.

So far all about problems… Now, how can we curb down the emissions to significantly enhance the Air Quality Index?

Well, cutting down on toxic vehicular emissions is one of the key solutions to this problem which indeed is the need for a sustainable transportation system and an introduction of alternative automotive technologies such as Electric Vehicles which drastically reduces our carbon footprints. Considering the long-term impacts, plugged in Electric Vehicles are more economical compared to gasoline ones. Imagine how cost effective and eco-friendly it would be if our public transportation system, carpooling companies, taxi aggregators, and even the logistics companies start switching to zero-emission vehicles powered by cleaner energy fuels!

About Newton Vehicles

Newton Vehicles has a vision and mission to build Modular, Connected, Smart Electric Vehicles for corporates, taxi aggregators and city commuters and logistics companies to create a sustainable transportation system.

Why Modular?

Modular design, or “modularity in design”, is a design approach that subdivides a system into smaller parts called modules or skids, that can be independently created and then used in different systems. A modular system can be characterized by functional partitioning into discrete scalable, reusable modules, rigorous use of well-defined modular interfaces, and making use of industry standards for interfaces. — Wikipedia

Modularity enables the vehicle platform to be widely customizable, scalable, and reusable for a variety of purposes ranging from usage in logistics to passenger vehicle with basic addition and removal of ‘modules’. This also increases the life cycle of vehicles to a great extent as parts are upgradable and reusable and reduces periodic servicing.

Newton Vehicles is built with passionate people, the technical team being members of the motorsports team of IIT Roorkee who were finalists at the prestigious FSAE Australasia 2015 formula electric car competition. With tremendous zeal towards utilizing clean energy sources for creating sustainable transportation, the team is confident towards valuable in reducing our carbon footprints and Air Quality Indices.
