Today I’m gonna write about a Chinese drama (TV series) that I've watched. Actually I saw this drama a long time ago, around two years ago. This drama starring Rosy Zhao(my Goddess, she’s so beautiful) and Ryan Ding. I’m not gonna lie, i usually watched drama because of the male lead then the plot. But ‘The Romance of Tiger and Rose’ is different, the first time i saw Rosy Zhao i immediately become a fan.
This plot is about a screenwriter that writes a story for drama or movies named Chen Xiao Qian. She suddenly come to the past and possess the body of a side character in the story that she write. The side character was the Third Princess who dies on her wedding night. Her name is Chen Qianqian. After she come through, she didn’t want to die so she started to avoid dead flag. She wanted to come back to her time (present) so she think that only by following the plot she will be able to come back. But she didn’t want to die, i mean who can be sure that she won’t really die right? I forgot to tell you, that she wore with her own body. Meaning, when she come to the past, she has the same appearance with the Third Princess (almost like she really come with her own body). In the story that she wrote, there are two cities that hostile to each other, Xuanhu City and Huayuan City. Xuanhu have a patriarchal rules meanwhile Huayuan follow a matriarchal rules. Xuanhu send their Crown Prince to Huayuan as a form of truce. They wanted to marry each other princes and princesses so Xuanhu and Huayuan won’t be enemies in the future. Han Shuo is the Crown Prince of Xuanhu, even though it says that he was sent to Huayuan for truce, everyone knows that he is actually a hostage. But Han Shuo have his own plan. He planned to marry one of the princesses and got the Huayuan City Owner trust and then planning to launch a war and unites the two city.
So, our main character become the Third Princess with a worse reputation, not to mention her instant husband tried to kill her many times. But don’t worry this drama have a happy ending. The plot seems serious but it’s actually very easy to understand. In fact, i think this drama is more about romantic comedy genre than a historical or suspense genre like ‘The Longest Day in Chang’an’. Sure, there’s a misunderstanding between the couple but it got resolved and they got happy ending. You might find Chen Xiao Qian personality frustrating because, let’s be honest… Almost half of the misunderstanding that happen between Han Shuo and her is because she don’t want to tell the other person (Han Shuo) about her plan. Even though Han Shuo already telling her all his plan and he was willing to lower himself in front of Huayuan City Owner (thus lower Xuanhu City’s prestige as Han Shuo is their representative) because he genuinely fall in love with her. And not to mention, other peoples and faction that don’t want the two cities to be allies. So they are manipulating the two cities by provoking Han Shuo and Chen Qianqian relationship. Afterall, one is the crown prince and the other one is the favorite princess.
