“Высота”

This Saturday I visited the first ever “Высота” youth festival. It took place in Nizhny Novgorod. I have mixed feelings on all such events and I’d love to explain why.

On the one hand, I assume that there are people who are into such festivals, summer camps, student unions and so on. Probably, they find it interesting to meet a lot of new people, to be in charge of social activities, deal with children and help other students. It definately allows them to improve social skills, to satisfy their communication need and show their talents.

But on the other hand, I never want to participate in such events, because I feel like a square peg in a round hole. I find it hard to be surrounded by so many strangers. The only thing that helped me this time was my groupmates that came there along with me.

Even though “Высота” is not my kind of thing to visit, I am quite impressed by what I saw there. Especially I liked this vintage car. I love how its tires look.

Also I absolutely loved the area where the national stuff of other countries was displayed. There were even musicians who were playing folk music. Unfortunately, the music from the main scene was too loud and I could barely hear them.

Many companies used this festival to advertise their goods or service. There were stands with dairy products, sports nutrition products, small cafes. There were even represetatives from barber shops who could style men hair or give them a haircut.

Many sports facilities were there at the festival. You could play basketball, chess, checkers, arm-wrestle, try yoga or parkour there.

In general, I can say that “Высота” is a great place for people who like sports, music and want to find a new hobby. But they should be prepared for a huge number of people and long lines. Personally, I don’t like it, but I appreciate that there are such opportunities to have a good time and get new impressions in Nizhny Novgorod.
