Morning Thoughts on Being a Good Person

GOOD-NATURED CHILDREN. If you would have good-natured children, be good-natured yourself. Soar above the irritabil-ities peculiar to the pregnant state. Have a goodtime. If melancholy seizes you as its victim, LAWS OF GENERATION. 123 free yourself from its grasp by a visit to your neighbor, and have a pleasant chat.

I recently had a tift with someone and in the wake of reflecting it became apparent that in the day to day “hustle” we are losing touch and priority on being a good human being.

This morning I opened up Medium for some inspiration and while the headlines aren’t as depressing as the NYT (thank you, Medium Politics) they were easy to read between the lines. People are more focused inwards (while appearing outwards), pushing hustle to justify the look of exhaustion, and hacking themselves apart.

Personally, I have read hundreds of business and self-motivator books trying to find the best “lean” version of myself. Many of us are struggling with the quickly changing world and where it may be taking us. Successful entrepreneurs are finally publicly talking about depression, manic habits, and how their brain can’t stop.

My Advice, that you did not ask for:

Cut out the noise today and focus on being a good person.

Focus on being a great partner, parent, child or friend. Put your thoughts aside for 24 hours and be present. Let your mind heal, and breathe.

As you can imagine, I am writing this for myself. I am reminding myself that our legacy is bigger than the work sitting in our email box and to be a good human is the best legacy of all.

Question of the day: What is one element of hustle that you can remove from your life?
