Keeping a cool office is key. Let me show you how to determine if you can do that:

Heat load is the amount of heat things give off, and your A/C is rated for certain amounts of cooling to compensate.

Watts = Volts x Amps

You can find the volts and amps on either the power adapter, the back of the device, or on the manufacturers website.

Please note that this is the highest possible amount of power that the device would draw during regular operation. As such, the BTUs generated will be slightly lower during normal operation.

Once you have your BTUs / hr you can determine how much heat load your devices will generate, and any subsequent cooling that you will need to incorporate into your space.

Say you have been told that there is sufficient cooling for 20 people in your tenancy (not including the tech they need). Each person needing two monitors, and the selected monitors use 14 volts and 1.79 amps.

The additional cooling required will be 1kW! (Just for the monitors).

Use this formula for all devices in your space. It will help indicate the rough size for the additional units needed for your space. Alternatively, you can calculate the “real” total number of occupants by including all devices.
