This is a fantastic approach to hit small to medium sized companies, where you can get through to someone who actually understands the needs for the role they are hiring for. Sadly, in my personal experience, when it comes down to dealing with large HR departments, jamming your resumé with non-sensical job-oriented jargon was by far the most successful method. They just feed your application through a recruitment software of their choosing to find if you “qualify” or not. It did not pay off to personalize / customize my applications to large companies when I was on a job hunt.
