pen to paper

jot down a memory,
a thought, a time.
remember when things were
wonderful, sublime.
the days when words were free,
swirling around, gracefully.
now take apart the past,
and build the future.
more thoughts will come, eventually.
strolling gallantly through one’s mind,
finding new things to find.
think of the years to celebrate,
to create,
tomorrow.

empty the memoirs, the moments.
let a field of remembrance
commence.
revise the next morning, careful to not let any
thoughts fly away.

tell your life’s story, the truth,
the whole.
let time take its toll.
publish everything, even the drafts,
never knowing how long,
or even if they’ll last.

pen to paper.
what a glorious thought to behold!
