My journey from being a Sales Supervisor in the F&B Industry in China, to a Product Owner in Thaïlande after learning how to code, to a futur Ux/UI Designer…

In this article, I will present the technical interview of IronHack Paris and the solution I prototyped to resolved this case-study. It was asked to “[c]reate a tool for designers and creative people, so that they can safely save pieces of inspiration and trace them back in an efficient way when they need to.”

Get to know your users

In order to understand who are my users, I interviewed 3 designers working in freelance, aged between 25 and 30 years old. The goal was:

  • To understand their job, their daily tasks, their needs and their challenges as well as
  • Get to know the supports, solutions and tools they are currently using.

Findings

Interviewees said they were working essentially on their laptop (MacBook) and using Google Chrome as their browser.

The tools they were currently using were Evernote, Pinterest, Pocket, Unsplash, Pixabay to collect and get inspiration. One of them was creating folders in his computer to organise his researches. Others were using tags and were missing an app where they can organise inspiration by themes.

Key features

Due to the very short dead-line to resolve this case study, I focused on key features and one kind of solution to solve the problems highlighted during interviews:

  • Be able to save important articles and go on it later.
  • A place where any kind of support can be saved, uploaded, organised and easily accessible.
  • Can be carried around.

Ideation

What gives our user grey hairs is to be able to save any kind of inspiration sources, to organise them as wished and to be able to go back on it at anytime from anywhere.

The solution proposed is a web application where Arthur can create notes and save any kind of sources from the web, regardless their format…

Thanks to the Chrome Extension, Arthur will be able to directly save articles, pictures and video from any websites he is visiting and access it later on. He can organise them by tagging them. This solution will help him to save time and work from anywhere on several projects without getting lost.

The solution: Mybackpack.io

The solution is to be able to save any media found on the web just by clicking on Mybackpack.io ’s google chrome extension. Users can then add tags to the media saved. They can import any kind of support: images, articles, videos etc…

If you want to try my prototype you can by clicking here. The first action that must be taken is to click on Mybackpack.io ’s chrome extension icon on the top right corner of Chrome Browser:

I hope you enjoyed my very first prototype. Stay tuned for more case-studies to come before working on personal projects.
