The Background people and how to avoid them.
I decided to write about this topic as it seems to be ignored by most authors and gurus alike.
In English speaking countries they have a name for this — “the naysayers”. Its easy to criticize and people always criticize each other. In fact, if you were to talk to someone right now to convey a new idea the most likely response you will get — the very first response — will probably be a straight “no” or an expression among the lines of — “This won’t work… because…”
But what does it mean? Why many people are so attached to this line of thinking ?
In magic we tend to explore many sides of ourselves and forget about exploring the skills that will help you understand others. It’s true that most people will die alone, but having a social life is probably one of the most important things for a human.
In some lines of Buddhism and other practices like regression there are few terms that I have paid attention to. Some folk have made distinction between souls, some are denser, others are lighter. In theory a denser soul is enclosed, chained and unable to move. This person cannot change, even thought they may be able to change somehow someday by its own merit, the current soul is so dense that a lighter soul and a dense soul cannot understand each other.
The lighter soul see the world already in self-aware and conscious manner, this soul have for years practiced self restrain or paid a lot of attention to its own emotional awareness. The lighter soul is for example, that friend or person that always try to pull you UP.
The lighter soul is fragile. It hates confrontation. It hates violence and it abhors anything that creates division and fight between people.
This is not to say that all dense souls are the complete reverse of a lighter soul, but the denser soul cannot understand the lighter soul. The lighter soul can explain a concept, again and again and the chances are — the dense and the lighter soul will NEVER be able to come to an agreement. This is easily visible with the older generations that constantly hate on younger people trying to survive this weird dimension.
The denser soul is a cynic. This person cannot talk without using cynicism, it cannot communicate or be itself, the dense soul do not believe in itself. It is not capable of trusting or believing, even if the dense soul think it believes in something, by the end of the day the dense soul will never follow the believes it set to itself. The dense soul will slowly fall into a pit of denial and obsession, with time the opinions of other denser souls will shape the dense soul, in no time the dense soul will be unable to do anything without think about “the people” or “what people say”. For the dense soul is simply impossible to do anything if it cannot somehow “show people” that what he did is “acceptable” by other dense souls.
The lighter soul usually have a bad time because of this. The divide is great. As the dense souls become more distributed into an organized hive mind, the lighter soul struggles to find something it truly cares about. The lighter soul starts to have no desire to receive approval of the denser souls, in fact sometimes the lighter soul will do anything in its power to show that there is “another way”.
The lighter soul will either seclude itself or have a circle of like minded people. Meanwhile the dense soul think in a collective way: “what will people think?” — the answer for this question from the Lighter souls is “WHAT PEOPLE?”.
The Lighter souls realized that he IS ALONE. There is nobody watching him, there is no applaud to be received and there will be no award. Meanwhile the dense soul does everything thinking of others opinions. The dense soul will look for confrontation and violent acts and the Lighter soul will look to build interesting things and make good things.
When both clash, there is a big range of disparate, usually if the lighter soul already understands itself it will be able to deal with the dense soul without many issues. But in some cases, for example at your work, if you are a Lighter soul and your coworkers are dense souls, chances are you will slowly be dragged more and more into a nauseous state. When the lighter soul is out of options and have to deal with dense souls on daily basis it will slowly be burned out. Its dreams will be laughed at, its desires will be called foolish and its hard-work will be ignored.
The only real and practical way to deal with this situation is starting to recognize the patterns and understand the people you shouldn’t have in your life. Realize you cannot change the dense souls unless they ask for your help and most importantly: Never do what a dense soul tells you to do. Make your own decisions because in the end the truth is, the background people don’t exist. Quite literally…
