Model Behind The New Yorker Logo

Apparently, Eustace Tilley, the mascot of The New Yorker magazine was a living person. The original illustration by Rea Irvin happens to be a lifted and high-browed face of Alfred d’Orsay, a French amateur artist and a famous dandy of the early 19 century. Mais, c’est vrai.
