I agree with your broader points, about the “thriving” vs. “starving” mentality. I do think it’s a false dichotomy though, and generalizable to any field.

It’s important for any young professional to think about how they can grow, how their work can be valued appropriately, and how opportunities can be found or created.

Certainly agree that this attitude isn’t emphasized enough in education, especially in the arts where the conception of the “starving artist” is prevalent.
