5G is the coming fifth-generation wireless broadband technology based on the 5G 3GPP ITU standard. This standard was ratified by the ITU in December 2017. An important goal of 5G is to further increase the speed of wireless networking to accommodate the growing mobility of network users. 5G will provide better speeds and coverage than the current 4G. 5G is set to offer the possibility for high speed connections for tens of thousands of connections.

5G brings represents a significant step forward for both fixed wireless and fixed wired telecommunication services, as it is apparent that we will see wide-range use of 5G in the near future. While we can expect the launch of 5G to be slow and steady, many people are not quite sure if this system will lean toward wired or wireless. We are confident that 5G technology will be adopted predominately by the wireless telecommunication service providers.

Intel roadmap for 5G

Here are some of the reasons why.

We have observed some of the greatest technological advancements in the world’s history in recent years. 5G is a wireless connection built specifically to keep up with the proliferation of devices that need a mobile internet connection. It’s not just your phone and your computer anymore. In the Internet of Things (IoT), its home appliances, door locks, security cameras, cars, wearables, dog collars, and so many other inert devices are beginning to connect to the web. That’s a lot more devices asking for a quick connection. Just imagine upgrading your data connection from a garden hose to a fire hose. The difference will be noticeable.

Deploying any kind of wired network (4G or 5G) over vast distances is extremely costly. Wireless network installations are lower in initial deployment cost and future operating costs. Wireless also increases the range of reception over vast areas with just a single tower. Conversely a wired network requires a direct connection via coaxial cable or telephone wire. For example, 100 customers living in the same neighborhood can benefit from the wireless connection from just a single tower, while with a wired network, each of those 100 customers needs to be individually connected to the network.

Horizon Communications is working towards providing fast reliable wireless connectivity to those in need. We are confident that a wireless connection is the wave of the future. You too can become part of this exciting project to bring super-fast reliable wireless internet to countries and underserved communities. Horizon Communications is an upcoming fixed wireless internet service provider looking to provide services in Bermuda, the Caribbean and Central America before expanding internationally. While utilizing 4th generation and soon 5th generation wireless technology, it will also heavily incorporate blockchain and cryptocurrency technology, one of the 1st ISP’s in the world to do so, while launching an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) as a part of their capital raise and blockchain integration.
