How Emergence of Smart Cities Have Impacted the Economy?

Countries and governments continue to develop smart cities to effectively serve the drones of people who migrate to the urban centers, but typically live on the outskirts and commute. Smart cities use software and hardware solutions to solve crises and meet the demands, which needs data networks to provide communication between these solutions, a new business model for Horizon in the suburban environment that we find easily supports our business model. The computerization of transport systems and other infrastructure results in higher standards of living, more comfort, and higher efficiency to the smart city dwellers, but what effects do smart cities have on the economy?

Improved mobility

An updated infrastructural system is one of the key features of a smart city. Installation of smart transport systems would imply safer roads and reduced congestion, which would lead to the cities saving about $800 billion according to a study by Dataflog. Data shows that city dwellers spend 15% of their driving time in traffic congestion and 20% in search of parking space. In the smart city, real-time data offers the city dwellers the fastest route to their destinations and helps them avoid congested roads. Mobile parking apps significantly reduce the time one would have spent looking for an empty parking slot. Consequently, employees will spend less time on the roads and more time on their jobs.

Improved technological innovations

For a smart city to continue being efficient, technologies have to be perpetually updated and improved. There is a constant demand for technologies to be developed across the wide array of industries. As more urban centers aspire and implement strategies to become smart cities, ICT firms respond to the increasing demand by developing technologies. Consequently, new tech companies are on the rise with thousands of job opportunities being created.

Optimal use of office spaces

ICT devices installed in office spaces collect data from office spaces to ensure maximum efficiency. For instance, occupancy is monitored and communicated in real-time. This makes it easy for businesses looking for renting space to find one.

A smart office building reduces the time it takes for the businesses to set up their ICT equipment and start working. Besides, the working spaces are more comfortable as smart devices are used to control temperatures and the lighting, thus maximizing on employee productivity. The overheads of a smart building are further reduced through the installation of automated heating and lighting systems.

The business’ security can also be enhanced through the linking of the CCTV cameras to a mobile device. This allows the business owner monitor who comes in and out of the building. The installation of cybersecurity systems reduces the risk of internet breach.

Smart cities have a hugely impacted on businesses, a factor that has had a ripple effect on the economy. Increased profits and higher efficiencies are only some of the benefits. Internet connectivity is essential for the collection and feeding of real time data. Through the provision of a wireless LTE internet service, Horizon Communications intends to become a leading player in telecommunications worldwide.
