Horizon Prepares for Upcoming ICO Regulation in Bermuda

The Premier and Finance Minister, the Hon. David Burt has made moves to have ICO’s regulated in the country. Burt, who earlier inaugurated a blockchain task force said that the country is eager to adopt the technology which has improved service delivery in different sectors. Horizon’s Founder Gilbert A. Darrell was one of the early members of the task force to help further cryptocurrency and blockchain on the island.

In a bid to ensure that Bermuda isn’t left behind, the Finance Minister said that the country would legislate on regulatory modalities for ICO’s in the country. According to him, ICO’s are not immune to fraudulent actors, but the technology behind the innovation has potentials to disrupt traditional methods of fundraising.

Bermuda already has a company launching an ICO from the jurisdiction. Horizon communications intends to raise $40 million to roll out an internet services beginning in the Caribbean and then expanding internationally.

On the planned regulation in the country, the Founder of the company, Gilbert A. Darrell said that Horizon welcomes regulations of ICO’s as a means of streamlining the blockchain ecosystem. Mr Darrell said that he believes that regulation would sieve out companies that have little or no value to offer investors as well enable legitimate companies to thrive.
