While the technology has been around for a while, only recently has telecommunications advanced far enough to find solid footing in fixed wireless networks. Today’s highly connected world is seeing all communities attempt to gain access to fast and reliable broadband connection, but solutions are near impossible with coax or fiber options in rural and suburban areas. As internet uses such as high-tech media solutions, online education, remote access to various resources rise, the demand for fast and reliable internet continues to increase. Companies such as Horizon Communications has risen to the occasion to provide fast and reliable fixed wireless connections, filing a huge gap in our digital futures.

Understanding a fixed wireless network

Fixed wireless allows one to receive and send high-speed data across fixed locations through radio waves. This eliminates the need for cable or phone lines. It is often confused with Wi-Fi, but the difference is stark in range, speeds and capabilities to handle a large amount of users and traffic.

Why are fixed wireless networks preferred by companies and telecoms?

Presently, most businesses and telecoms are connected through cables, with the fastest connections requiring fiber optic cables. While this has been the only solution in the past, laying down of its infrastructure and maintaining it is quite costly for companies and telecoms. This is with the upgrading costs notwithstanding. A fixed wireless connection requires virtually no set-up and incredible reliability for the customers. The clients only need to have a wireless antenna and home or business router / network.

Fixed wireless is also gaining popularity as it is applicable in areas where wired networking is not an option. For instance, it avails itself to internet connectivity in rural areas where wired infrastructure is not available yet. Horizon Communications, for example, aims to provide wireless connections to people have have little to no service already, from smaller communities to boats to remote businesses, while competing with and exceeding speeds offered by our competition.

Companies and telecoms are also setting up fixed wireless networks in preparation for the entry of the 5G network anticipated to commence in 2020. Fixed wireless networking will make use of extended-range wireless networks to deliver speeds of up to 1Gbps. With traditional networks, bandwidth is heavily shared among the same people connected to your local cable, meaning your neighbor can negatively influence your connection speed. With wireless technology, users are load balanced much more effectively and capacity issues are easily addressed.

Shared digital workspaces demand consistent network speeds and a reliable connection. Besides, more companies continue embracing cloud connectivity for functions such as data storage and consolidation of a business’ applications. This further drives this demand and provides increased stress to the legacy networks. A fixed wireless connection, that has huge upgrade potential and technical roadmaps into the year 2030 is a great option for fast and reliable connections.

Horizon Communications aims to be one of the few firms that provide fixed wireless connections using LTE. We intend to expand its services to other remote areas such as the Caribbean, the U.S. and later internationally.

Horizon Communications is an upcoming fixed wireless internet and cellular service provider looking to provide services in Bermuda, the Caribbean, and Central America before expanding internationally.

While utilizing 4th generation and soon 5th generation wireless technology, it will also heavily incorporate blockchain and cryptocurrency technology, one of the 1st ISP’s in the world to do so and the 1st to tokenize their services using an Initial Coin Offering (ICO).
