Art is a way to express ourselves, but do we ever notice it in our daily lives? It can be found in the way we put food on our plate, the way we put together an outfit, or even the way we carry ourselves through life.

Even though not every human being believes they are an artist, they still create art even if they don’t know it.

Art is not just a creation that we make, it is what we see through our own eyes. Maybe you may have never seen a wall of chewing gum as a form of art. Art is a lifestyle, a significant part of our own lives that we are living.

Art is a phenomena of looking at life through a lens with a different perspective, allowing you to discover and to create new experiences.

Homework:

  1. Please spend up to 10–15 minutes to create an artistic piece — like create a collage similar to that I have made (see above) or write song lyrics, music, or take a photograph, draw a sketch, or even a film a video/short film. (Something that is created by YOU, not plagiarized work!)
  2. After creating the piece, please post to Medium & tweet it. Use the hashtag: #NewPerspectiveArt (If it is a tangible piece, please photograph it and upload! Also bring it to class, since we will be sharing it with each other.)
  3. Please watch the following videos, read the short review, as well as look at the image, and please respond to the questions below in your own medium post!

Worktable — a practice of destructing a chosen object then trying to put it together, an exercise to be creative.

Questions for Medium Post:

  2. How is the art piece Gardens Speak a different and new perspective of theatrical art and a form of the arts? What is unusual of the show from the writer’s experience? Would you do this exhibit? Why or why not?
  3. What feeling does the image of the broken watch make you feel? Do you see it as a form of art? Why or why not?
