Starting a podcast in 2018? Here’s my top 3 starter USB Microphones for Podcasters to add to your Christmas list now.

The thought of using a mixer and some fancy-pants mic when you first start out can be daunting. Now as technology is moving on, there are some great USB microphone options out there that capture your voice to a standard not far from that of the expensive XLR microphone, but don’t be under any illusion that a £100 USB microphone captures as much clarity and detail as a £400 XLR microphone, they are priced this way for a reason! They are however, a great way to start with a simple set up so you can focus on recording your first episodes with complete confidence. USB microphones literally plug and play into your computer. Simple.

A great podcast starter microphone, easy to use. RØDE have a reputation for manufacturing good quality microphones and this USB version is no exception.

Another great microphone to get you started. Unlike the RØDE NT-USB, this microphone doesn’t come with a pop shield, but it’s highly recommended you purchase one to get the best recording quality.

I am a huge fan of the Marantz portable recorders and this USB microphone does not disappoint. You will need to purchase a stand separately, such as this simple desk stand. Again, I would recommend that you invest in a pop shield to help reduce mouth pops in the recording.
