Contentshake AI is an AI writing tool that generates blog posts, articles, and social media posts from scratch.

Just tell it what to write about.

But is it actually good? Does it save content creators’ time or is it just hype?

I’ve extensively tested the product so you don’t have to. Let me show you what it does and what I like/dislike about it.

Key Features

Let’s take a sneak peek at the main features of Contentshake. I will focus only on the AI writer features and I’m not reviewing the SEO tools.

  • Social media post writer. Creates social media posts for Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
  • Article idea generator. Based on your profile and details, the tool comes up with blog post topics relevant to your audience or niche
  • AI writer. The tool comes with a powerful AI that can write both short and long-form blog content.
  • ChatBot. Once the AI article writer has finished, you can ask the Contentshake chatbot to improve your post.
  • Intelligent content editor. There’s a traditional blog post editor with AI features for proofreading, rephrasing, and enhancing your content.
  • WordPress integration. You can publish content directly to WordPress with the Semrush Contentshake WordPress plugin.
  • Chrome Extension. You can also use Contentshake anywhere where you work. This is possible with the Chrome extension that works in the background wherever there’s a text box on a site you visit.

But now, let me show you how it actually performs and whether I like it or not.

My Experience

First, sign up for the tool. You can do it here. Or if you want to follow along, be my guest. :)

Then just create an account. I used the Google sign-up to speed up the logging-in process.

After this step, make sure to let Contentshake know about yourself. This helps it give you relevant content ideas and such.

Then it’s time to start writing content.

Testing the Social Post Writer

As the first step, I created a social media post.

Remember that this all happens with AI. I just tell the AI what I want it to write and on which platform and it will do it. Epic!

For example, here I’m telling Contentshake AI that I want to create a LinkedIn post about my latest video:

What I like about it is that you can specify the tone of voice and the type of post in question. This will tailor the post further to my audience.

Here are the example posts that it wrote:

These look just like those LinkedIn posts usually do. Perhaps a bit too many emojis to my liking, but looks decent.

Especially if you (or I) haven’t posted on LinkedIn before, this can give you some direction on what type of a post to produce.

However, one thing I don’t like about it is that the posts are generic.

This is not a surprise, though. The AI can’t read my thoughts or copy my personality. We’re not that far in the future just yet.

Just edit your posts to match your unique tone of voice and style and to not be too generic.

Testing the Article Writer

Next, let’s try the article writer feature. This feature writes long 2,000+ word blog posts from scratch with your input.

I’m excited to give it a shot as a content writer.

To write with Contentshake AI, head over to the Contentshake AI project dashboard. Then type the title of your article into the “Create article with our ideas” section.

You can either use your idea or choose one of the recommendations. I used my blog post idea:

After you’ve specified your topic, it’s time to preview the settings that the AI uses. This determines the post length, tone of voice, and more.

I wanted the AI to write a 4,000-word post with a somewhat casual tone of voice. I also mixed in some SEO boost (although I’m not a huge SEO believer, to be honest.)

Then the tool started writing. It mentioned that this can take up to 4 minutes. But I think it took closer to 10 if I’m real.

After about 10 minutes, here’s the post.

Because it’s a long post, I won’t paste it here or show it entirely, but you can find a link to the complete AI post here.

One thing I noticed is that it’s quite a bit shorter than the 4,000 words that I set as a target.

But 2,700 words in 10 minutes isn’t something I’m going to complain about ;)

However, one thing I must mention right off the bat is that this content is also super generic.

You need to do heavy editing to make it stand out.

Editing the Post

The Contentshake-written post has a lot of information, but it’s not adding anything new to the internet.

To stand out as a blogger, you need to decorate your posts with unique takes, images, and whatnot.

That’s why there’s a content editor.

It’s a full-fledged blog post editor where you can do all the basic stuff like headings, lists, images, and more. But then on top of that, you can also use the AI features to save your time when editing.

Contentshake shows me 150+ improvements for the post it just generated.

To fix these issues, you can locate them by clicking them. Also, you can use the rephrase feature by highlighting a piece of text.

For example, here I’m using AI to rephrase one of the too-lengthy AI-written sentences:

The AI did a decent job with this one. However, to me, it doesn’t look that much different than what it was before.

Also, these improvements and fixes can’t remove the fact that this post is a generic piece of content that doesn’t add to the internet.

Please keep this in mind!

It’s easy to get blinded by the technology. But the reality is that nowadays anyone can use a tool like this.

To make it stand out, you need to spend hours on it to make edits. You need to add your unique style, your takes, images, and whatnot.

That’s just me speaking from experience.

Creating Images with Contentshake

Let’s explore some more.

One cool feature of this tool is that you can generate images with it and use those in your post.

This is useful if you have a section like this that looks like a wall of text:

You can create images in the editor by clicking “Images.”

Then tell the AI what kind of an image you want to see.

After 15 seconds or so, the AI will bring that description into reality by rendering a unique image of it.

For example, as a Finnish person, I wanted to see how good a picture it could create of an arbitrary Finnish man writing a blog post.

Here’s the result:

Looks pretty realistic.

To use the image in your blog post, click on it. This will add it to the section you’re located in your blog post.

If you’re not happy with the AI images, use the Unsplash integration. (The AI uses this by default, and places real images in your posts automatically.)

But please keep in mind:

  • Using AI images or Unsplash images is better than not using images at all.
  • But if your post only has those, it will never rank on Google or get noticed.

There’s always someone willing to put in the work and who has taken useful and original images to their post. An AI-written generic post with generic images doesn’t fare well against that.

Contentshake Chatbot

Once you’ve AI-written your post, use the AI chatbot to edit your post.

This AI bot lives on the right-hand side of the blog post editor.

For example, I asked it to add a key takeaway section for those long sections of my blog post:

Here’s what the Chatbot gave me:

Those look decent. (However, one thing I would have loved to see is adding those into the post automatically.)

Be Careful with Facts

One thing I don’t like about Contentshake is that it adds these statistics to the post without adding a link.

You need to do some work to figure those statistics and facts out.

Publishing

Once you’ve edited your post, it’s time to hit publish.

For example, you can connect your WordPress blog with Contentshake to publish there without doing the import-export hassle.

Chrome Extension

Don’t forget that you can install the Chrome extension of Contentshake. This means you can use the AI anywhere—without having to copy-paste across pages.

For example, you can use the Chrome extension to write emails.

Overall, I think Contentshake did great.

It comes with all kinds of productivity tools and features to streamline your writing. It comes with images, templates, and AI that writes quality content out of thin air.

But also, it falls short in originality. It simply says things that already exist on the internet and doesn’t connect with the audience.

What I Like about Contentshake

  • Generous free trial. Although you need to sign up with a credit card, you can experiment with the product for a week and cancel any time before committing.
  • A nice and helpful team. Customer support quality is top-notch. You can see that this is not “just another AI startup” but instead a big old tech firm with a lot of professionals working for them.
  • Chrome extension. This is handy. The extension allows you to use AI magic to write anywhere you go—without having to copy-paste between tabs.
  • Blog post editor. I liked how good edits you can make with the Contentshake built-in content editor. You can add images, headings, lists, and links. Then you have all the AI editing features on top of that.
  • Powerful and fast AI. The tool generates good-looking text in just minutes with AI. The text is as good as a decent freelancer can produce.
  • AI editing features. For some clumsy or long sentences, you can use the built-in AI editor to rephrase the sentences. That’s handy!
  • Image library integration. The tool uses Unsplash images in your blog posts accurately. The images fit the context naturally.

What I Dislike about Contentshake

  • Generic content and generic images. You need to do heavy edits to stand out with these.
  • Lack of citations. I noticed that some of the blog posts consisted of data or numbers that the tool didn’t link to.
  • Sometimes the AI writer is a bit slow. For me, it took at least twice as long as it suggested.

Pricing

Contentshake has a simple pricing model:

  • $60/month

Bottomline

Contentshake is awesome. As good as it gets! It’s one of the best AI tools I’ve tried. If you’re an AI freak, you should try it, for sure.

However, as someone who has written 1,000+ blogs without AI, I’m not using tools like this.

It can be good for writing emails, getting out of blank page syndrome, and writing some social media posts.

But it’s not going to replace a long-form content writer. You need to do heavy edits and add your takes, images, visuals, and whatnot. This simply takes time.

Thanks for reading!
