Industrial development and economic liberalisation in our country has seen a number of pockets across the country rise into prominence over the last ten years or so. Chennai was never quite the industrial capital of South India. However, over the past decade, numerous manufacturing, IT, BPO, software and infrastructure companies have made Chennai their South Asian operations centres, leading to an influx of qualified and semi qualified professionals who are employed with these companies. There has also been a sharp spike in the number of mid and senior level professionals who are moving in to Chennai, as heads of such businesses. They are in their mid thirties to early fifties and want to live their lifein Chennai in relative luxury and ease. For such people, there are multitudes of options available, in case they wish to choose luxury apartments in Chennai.

The topmost executives in companies like Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, Larsen and Toubro, Michelin and Daimler are always on the lookout for luxury three and four BHK apartments in Chennai. They have the power to afford the luxury and want to cash in on it. They can choose to rent such an apartment out, or, in case they want to make Chennai their permanent home, choose to buy one for themselves.

A lot is changing in the real estate market in Chennai. Many infra companies have plans of pumping money into new projects which have a variety of apartment types in them — from affordable two BHKs to luxurious 3, 4BHKs, duplexes and even triplexes. Prices are in the range of Rs 20–50 lakh for 2-BHK units depending on the size and the location of these apartments (for 2 BHKs). As many as fifteen new residential projects, many of them luxury or semi luxury, have been announced (and possession will be given in 2018). The areas which are seeing these projects come up are as follows: Avadi, district Poonamallee, suburban centres like Tambaram, Kelambakam, Oragadam, Anakaputhur, Siruseri, Nallambakkam, Urappakkam, Ambattur and OMR. Oragadam, Sriperumbudur, Padapai and Guduvancheri are a few other locations that will see rapid development in the next few years.

The best areas in Chennai where one may easily come across luxury apartments for rent are Adyar, Nungambakkam, Mylapore — these are all old and established Tamilian hotspots where luxurious residential projects have come up. Many of the residents of these areas live in their villages now and want to put up their plush apartments for rent say property experts at Sulekha Properties. If you want to live in the heart of the city and be in the centre of art and culture, these areas are definitely worth looking at.
