How do you define interaction design?

After a week of writing through my thoughts, here’s where I’ve ended up.

Irregardless of system, hardware or service, as interaction designers we provide people with a path to progress. We set out to make a path that aligns a user’s curiosity with their ability. And we find solutions that aren’t forced, but instead appear just as they’re needed.

When architecting this path, interaction designers should always keep in mind to walk the user’s path alongside them. It’s important to internalize their pain and frustrations along the way. We focus on clarity over simplicity, and build in flexibility because change and growth are completely natural behaviors.

How would you define it?
